Darlington Akporugo 46 and Jasmin Sood 35 whose wedding were scheduled for tomorrow in Houston, have been canceled over alleged fraud

The couple were arrested in April for allegedly tricking elderly people out of money.

The United States Department of Homeland Security has accused the 46-year-old Nigerian and Sood, aged 35, of committing mail and wire fraud, resulting in victims losing $3.123 million.

They used social media and dating websites to gain the victims’ trust, then asked them to send money to various accounts controlled by them.

They even met one victim in person in Houston and helped her transfer money to their accounts.

Akporugo is also accused of using someone’s identity and a stolen access device in the scheme.

If found guilty, they could each face up to 30 years in prison for fraud and conspiracy. Akporugo could get extra time for the identity theft and access device fraud.
