In a shocking development, a local welder in Delta State was arrested today for allegedly manufacturing firearms for criminal gangs, including notorious armed robbers terrorizing the region.
The arrest followed an intense investigation by the Delta State Police Command after receiving credible intelligence about the illegal activities of the suspect. The welder, identified as Samuel Ogah, was reportedly using his skills to produce guns that were supplied to criminals involved in various robbery operations within the state.
Speaking on the arrest, the Delta State Police Commissioner praised the efforts of his officers in tracking down the suspect. He revealed that a raid on the suspect’s workshop led to the discovery of several firearms and tools used in the illegal production of the weapons.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all residents in Delta State, and this arrest is a significant step toward dismantling the criminal networks causing havoc in our communities,” said the Police Commissioner.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to face charges related to illegal arms manufacturing and aiding criminal activities. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the syndicate involved in the distribution of these weapons.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help combat crime in the state.
