The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has stated that the dissolution of the State Executive Council was necessitated by the need to rejig it and have a new beginning, not to sack its members.

Speaking at the valedictory dinner for the EXCO members, he described it as a deeply emotional moment for him, saying goodbye to friends and colleagues with whom he has worked, shared a vision, and interacted regularly. “The Bible says there is always a beginning and an end. “As the beginning of this journey of service started on a joyous note, we have decided to make the end a celebratory and joyous occasion as well.

“Earlier today, we held a valedictory EXCO session, where, in an atmosphere of conviviality and love, I thanked all the members of the EXCO for their service to the State and assured them that, though the end of their current service to our State may have come, it may, however, signal the beginning of other layers of service they may still be expected to undertake in the service of the State and our people. “On behalf of the Government and the people of Akwa Ibom State, I thank you for your service.

“We decided to celebrate you this evening with this valedictory dinner to further show our deep appreciation for all your contributions to the development of our dear State.

“This may be the end of a phase, but God may have another phase for you, which may unfold soon. It was truly a blessing to have you as colleagues and agents of service delivery.

“God bless you all, and I wish you well in whatever new plans God may have in store for you,” he added.

In their separate remarks, the Dean of the former EXCO and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Sir Monday Uko; the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong; and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, appreciated the Governor for his leadership, especially for his humility and camaraderie.

They thanked the Governor for his demonstration of love, especially through the joyous valedictory sessions, and assured him of their continuous support for the ARISE Agenda, even outside the Executive Council.
