Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Mogaji has finally opened up about the reasons behind her decision to end her 13-year marriage to retired footballer Victor Ayodele Oduleye.
Mogaji, who previously had a son with fellow actor Jibola Dabo, married Oduleye in 2006. However, in a recent interview on the ‘Talk To Be’ podcast with actress Biola Bayo, Mogaji accused Oduleye of abuse, sharing details of her tumultuous marriage.
“We fell in love with each other, but I received beatings over any little thing,” Mogaji recounted. “Even in England, the abusive language, the mental torture, the physical abuse—when it gets too much, I would advise anybody to get out of that marriage.”
She further explained the extent of the abuse, saying, “It got to a stage that when it was only the two of us at home, I would go outside the compound and sit until someone else came around, so I wouldn’t be abused. We were in it for thirteen years, and we have been separated for four years now.”
Mogaji’s candid revelations highlight the challenges she faced and the difficult decision she made to leave an abusive relationship after many years.
