Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has issued a defiant response to the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are backing Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Wike asserted that any governor who fails to recognize his stature is “sick,” emphasizing that he is “bigger than all of them put together.”

Speaking at a grand reception held in Port Harcourt on Saturday, hosted by the Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress, Wike addressed an enthusiastic crowd, stating, “Don’t ever think they are fighting me; they are not fighting me. I’m too big.” He challenged the legitimacy of those opposing him within the party, saying, “If you don’t recognize someone who is bigger than you, then you are sick.”

Wike dismissed any threats from his detractors, claiming they were “empty” and declared, “Soon we will know who is relevant.” He reinforced his commitment to the party’s structure, stating, “Nobody will take over the structure of the party. You can have all the money; if it didn’t dey, it didn’t dey.”

Wike’s remarks come amidst increasing tensions within the PDP, particularly following the support from governors like Adamawa State’s Umaru Fintiri and Oyo State’s Seyi Makinde for Governor Fubara.

The political landscape within the party continues to evolve, as Wike asserts his influence and challenges the authority of his fellow governors.
