The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has urged residents not to join the planned protest by some Nigerians.

Wike made this appeal during an interaction with residents after inspecting the ongoing construction of the Abure to Dei Dei Road in Abuja on Thursday.

Recall a section of Nigerians plans to hold a peaceful protest over hunger and insecurity starting on August 1.

However, Wike emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is aware of the problems and is actively working to address them.

Wike described the current hunger and suffering as temporary, assuring that the ongoing reforms and policies will soon yield positive results.

He claimed that the protest is organized by politicians aiming to destabilize Tinubu’s administration.

“Those asking you to protest are lying to you. It is not in the interest of Nigeria or your interest,” Wike said.

He urged Nigerians to be patient with the current administration, allowing Tinubu time to rectify the country’s issues.

“Don’t be angry and don’t join the protest, because it will not solve the problem. The government is aware of the hunger and is working hard to find a lasting solution.

I know hunger makes people lose patience. Please be patient. This hunger will reduce very soon,” he added.

In response to residents’ requests for a police station and health facility in Abure, Wike assured them of the government’s commitment to meeting their needs.

He promised to construct a police station, while Mr. Christopher Maikalangu, the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, pledged to build a health facility.

Wike also reassured residents that the ongoing road project in the community would be completed as scheduled, noting that work has continued uninterrupted since the project’s inception.
