The police in Abeokuta have arrested a woman who had been posing as mentally ill while secretly gathering information for a gang of armed robbers. The arrest was made this morning following a tip-off from vigilant residents.
The woman, identified as Grace Oladokun, was apprehended in the early hours of the day in the Itoku area of the city. According to the police, she had been pretending to be mentally unstable for several weeks, loitering around various neighborhoods and eavesdropping on unsuspecting residents.
“Her behavior initially seemed harmless, but residents began to notice that she was unusually observant and seemed to be taking mental notes of their daily routines,” said the police spokesperson. “This led to increased suspicion, and we received several reports about her activities.”
Upon her arrest, Oladokun was found with a notebook containing detailed information about the residents and their properties. It is believed that she was passing this information to a gang of armed robbers, aiding them in planning their heists.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. The arrest has highlighted the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies in combating crime.
Grace Oladokun remains in custody as the investigation continues.
