A young Nigerian woman, Emediong Essien, has captivated many online with her exceptionally neat handwriting, which looks almost like a computer font. Emediong shared photos of her work on social media, expressing her pride in her beautiful penmanship. She took a moment to appreciate her teacher, who played a crucial role in teaching her and her classmates to write neatly.
In her words, she reflected, “While sitting to update some school notes and assignments, I can’t help but admire the beauty of my handwriting. The lines are straight, the curves are smooth, and every letter is perfectly formed. It’s a small thing, but it brings me a sense of pride and accomplishment.”
Emediong recalled her early school days with a hint of nostalgia and humor. “It’s funny to think that I used to dread those handwriting exercises in primary school—my first copybook, tracing of letters, and so on. Our teacher was strict and demanded perfection. We grumbled and complained, thinking she was being too hard on us. But now, looking back, I see how she was actually training us to have beautiful handwriting from the very beginning.”
Although she has been unable to reach her teacher to express her gratitude directly, Emediong made it clear how thankful she is for the teacher’s efforts. “All efforts to reach her have been futile; she may or may not see this post, but I’m really grateful for all her efforts. Plus, this handwriting got me a job.”
