In a move that highlights the importance of education in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has praised the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Gusau as a “platform that nurtures and produces qualified teachers for public schools in the state.”
The governor made these remarks when the members of the college’s governing council paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House last Wednesday.
During the visit, Governor Lawal emphasized the need for relevant stakeholders to work in “synergy to revamp the educational system of Zamfara State.” He stated that the state government is dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to quality education, and is currently renovating and constructing over 290 schools throughout the state.
“In this endeavor, FCET plays a significant role as we aim to enhance the capacity and quality of our teachers,” the governor said, underscoring the college’s importance in the state’s educational landscape.
The chairman of the FCET Governing Council, Professor Muhammad Bashir Nuhu, commended the governor for prioritizing education and declaring an emergency in the state’s education sector. He also praised the positive steps the government is taking to improve the sector.
Professor Nuhu highlighted the support the college has received from the state government, particularly the First Lady’s sponsorship of 20 students and the gift of three computers to the top three graduating students.
Speaking further, Governor Lawal emphasized the state government’s commitment to revamping the educational system, stating, “We are dedicated to ensuring every child has access to quality education. Currently, we are renovating and constructing over 290 schools throughout the state.”
This initiative aligns with the state government’s broader efforts to address the challenges faced by the educational sector in Zamfara. The governor’s recognition of the Federal College of Education (Technical) as a crucial asset in this endeavor underscores the institution’s role in producing qualified teachers who will shape the future of education in the state.
The visit by the FCET Governing Council and the governor’s praise for the college’s contributions have further strengthened the partnership between the state government and the institution. This collaboration is expected to yield positive results in the form of improved teacher quality, enhanced learning outcomes, and ultimately, a more robust and accessible educational system for the people of Zamfara State.
As the state government continues to prioritize education and work towards its goals, the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Gusau stands as a shining example of how strategic partnerships and investments in educational institutions can drive transformative change in the sector.
