Following a windstorm that struck various Local Government Areas of Zamfara State on June 3, 2024, NEMA, in conjunction with the Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency, conducted a joint evaluation of the impacted areas.

The windstorm impacted communities in Tsafe, Maradun, and Mafara LGAs, among others, leading to the collapse of buildings.

The assessment was carried out under the supervision of security personnel due to the prevalent insecurity. ThePaan reported earlier on May 31 that over 500 houses were affected by a windstorm in the Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Five individuals were reported to have sustained injuries of different severities during the incident. NEMA had confirmed that there were no fatalities in the occurrence.

The emergency agency further stated that the windstorm resulted in the collapse of buildings, removal of rooftops, and damage to walls.
