In a shocking turn of events, a woman in Kogi State has been arrested on charges of poisoning her husband after discovering his infidelity. The incident occurred earlier today in the small town of Dekina.
According to local authorities, the suspect, Amina, 28, allegedly laced her husband’s food with a toxic substance after an intense argument about his extramarital affair.
Her husband, Mr. Abubakar, 37, reportedly began experiencing severe symptoms shortly after consuming the meal and was rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbors.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, Mr. Abubakar was pronounced dead on arrival. Preliminary investigations suggest that the poisoning was premeditated, motivated by Amina’s discovery of her husband’s infidelity.
The police have since detained Amina, who is cooperating with the investigation.
Neighbors expressed shock and disbelief at the incident, describing the couple as generally quiet and unassuming. “We never thought something like this could happen,” said Mrs. Onoja, a neighbor. “It’s a sad day for all of us.”
