Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has highlighted the significance of prioritizing food security, particularly through the concept of “stomach infrastructure.”
This message was delivered during the unveiling ceremony of 136 housing units acquired by the Sokoto state government for N1.820 billion.
These housing units aim to cater to the needs of low-income earners and individuals seeking shelter.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto received praise from Obasanjo for his efforts in addressing various issues such as food security, transportation, road construction, agriculture, and housing projects.
Obasanjo commended the governor’s dedication, likening it to the strength and resilience of a stallion horse.
He expressed optimism that the governor’s exceptional leadership qualities would enhance his chances of seeking a second-term mandate effortlessly.
The former president also applauded Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar for their contributions to the state’s development, with Wamakko being acknowledged as a commendable mentor for the governor.
Governor Aliyu Sokoto, in alignment with his campaign promises, highlighted that the numerous housing projects were aimed at delivering human-oriented initiatives that would improve the welfare and living standards of the people in the state.
He further emphasized the state government’s commitment to various development projects, including road construction, empowerment programs, provision of water and agricultural inputs, and equipping hospitals.
The governor expressed determination to continue the state’s development and provide state-of-the-art facilities in various locations, such as Islamiyya schools, markets, and playgrounds.
