Police in Enugu have arrested a woman for allegedly hiring assassins to murder the legal wife of her boyfriend. The incident, which took place earlier today, June 20, 2024.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released pending further investigation, reportedly orchestrated the assassination attempt in a bid to eliminate her romantic rival and secure her position as the man’s primary partner.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect had been in a relationship with the victim’s husband for several months.
The plan unraveled when the hired assassins, upon being intercepted by local police during a routine patrol, confessed to their mission.
The would-be assailants, who were found in possession of weapons and detailed instructions, provided information that led to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
The victim, who was at home during the time of the attempted attack, was unharmed thanks to the timely intervention of law enforcement.
She has since been placed under protective custody while the investigation continues.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged with conspiracy to commit murder and other related offenses.
The police are also investigating whether any additional individuals were involved in the plot.
