In a stern warning to his colleague, Ikenga Ugochinyere, the chairman of the Rivers Caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon Dumnamene Dekor, has urged him to steer clear of the internal politics of Rivers State.
Dekor accused Ugochinyere of abandoning decorum, responsible conduct, and caution amidst the ongoing disagreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the lawmakers.
Expressing his displeasure in Port Harcourt, Dekor criticized Ugochinyere for becoming an agent provocateur in a cause he knows little about. He claimed that Ugochinyere’s media statements, which exhibit prejudice, are thoughtlessly attacking due process and the judicial processes currently underway to resolve the dispute in Rivers.
Dekor called on the House of Representatives leadership to promptly take action and discipline “this errant member.” He emphasized that Ugochinyere’s latest interventions, like his previous ones, are filled with blackmail, half-truths, lies, misinformation, disinformation, and malicious propaganda.
As a Caucus, Dekor’s statement deemed Ugochinyere an insignificant figure in the social and political landscape of Rivers State. Highlighting that Ugochinyere is not even from the state, Dekor dismissed his political value as virtually nonexistent, except for those gullible enough to fall for his cheap tricks.
Initially attributing Ugochinyere’s behavior to exuberant infantilism that sometimes affects new members, Dekor expressed disappointment that his understanding of his duties as a federal lawmaker has not improved during his one year in office.
Dekor further revealed that Ugochinyere has, in fact, intensified his infamy, dishonorable conduct, and disreputable behavior over the past year. The details of these actions are available to the Caucus.
Undoubtedly, Ugochinyere’s actions outside of the House, under the guise of representation, directly infringe upon the privileges of Caucus members, undermine the integrity of the House itself, and flagrantly violate the constitution.
