Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a momentous occasion held at the Government House Ilorin, unveiled the fourth phase of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery Stimulus (NG-CARES) program.
This transformative initiative aims to uplift over 600,000 beneficiaries across the 16 local government areas of the state through the distribution of agricultural and infrastructural assets.
With a strong commitment to supporting farmers and vulnerable agro-entrepreneurs, the state government is providing high-value assets, such as fishing and passenger boats, hand tillers, and grinding machines.
Additionally, various categories of hospital equipment have been donated to enhance healthcare delivery and further benefit the vulnerable communities.
Representing Governor AbdulRazaq at the event was Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, who emphasized the state government’s dedication to fully implementing NG-CARES for the betterment of the people.
The program has already made a significant impact, benefiting at least two million citizens in Kwara State through initiatives like FADAMA, Social Cash Transfer, labor-intensive public workforce, and social development agency.
The NG-CARES program, a beacon of hope supported by the World Bank, serves as a vital response to the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Nuru praised the program’s clear objectives and its focus on expanding access to livelihood support and ensuring food security.
She commended both the World Bank and Governor AbdulRazaq for their commitment to making life bearable for all the citizens.
Appreciation was expressed by Olatunde for the government’s laudable decision to participate in the NG-CARES program. He commended the governor for undertaking this initiative in a new dimension, providing valuable items and equipment to different communities.
This demonstration of support and dedication is highly commendable and sets an example for other states to follow.
During the event, beneficiaries, including Alhaji Ahmed Ganiyu Adebayo from Alanamu community and Alhaji Sambo Magaji of the Lafiagi Emirate, expressed their gratitude and recognized the life-changing impact of the NG-CARES program.
They praised the administration for its kind gesture, acknowledging that the hospital equipment and other assets provided will greatly enhance their lives and empower local farmers.
Deputy Governor Alabi concluded the program by presenting the NG-CARES items to the beneficiaries, symbolizing the tangible impact of the initiative on the lives of the people.
