During a domestic altercation with his mother, Lil Durk’s 10-year-old son reportedly shot his stepfather, Joshua Pippens. Surveillance footage shows the child allegedly taking a gun from Pippens and firing at him.
In the video, Pippens, dressed in orange, is seen trying to restrain the child’s mother, who is in purple. The child, wearing a red t-shirt and shorts, is seen pointing what appears to be a gun at Pippens. A single gunshot is heard, and Pippens falls to the ground after being hit.
The incident occurred on July 1. From his hospital bed, Pippens has shared his perspective on Instagram, claiming he was not the aggressor and that the child acted on his mother’s instructions.
“As y’all can see I was not the aggressor. And y’all also can see how I still had my gun on my hip. He grabbed my gun off my hip following his mom’s lead and tried to shoot me and then actually shot me,” Pippens wrote. “My gun was on my hip and I was trying to protect myself from getting shot.

I never in a million years thought a kid I bought four wheelers and paid football leagues and everything would do this but he only knows what mom shows him. I still love him like he’s mine.”
Pippens hinted that the dispute may have been about custody arrangements over a shared child, writing, “Whatever makes y’all feel better. That’s why I got custody of my kids and she don’t. Y’all so internet think [sic] god it was me that took the shot and not her.”
Rapper Lil Durk has yet to comment on the incident.
