Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has praised the young people of his state for choosing not to join the ongoing protests happening across the nation. In different parts of Nigeria, many young people have taken to the streets to express their unhappiness with the government as part of the #EndBadGovernance movement. However, the youths in Bayelsa have decided to stay out of it. Governor Diri believes this shows their wisdom and good judgment.

The Governor shared these thoughts during his weekly prosperity walk. This event aims to bring the government closer to the people. On a bright morning, the walk started from the Bayelsa State Government House. Governor Diri was joined by political appointees, supporters, and local residents as they walked through the major streets of Yenagoa and ended at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex.

The walk is not just about fitness but also about discussing political issues. During the walk, Governor Diri spoke about the ongoing national protests. He thanked the Bayelsa youths for listening to his advice to avoid the protests, saying their decision showed their commitment to peace and stability in the state.

Governor Diri expressed worries about the protests, suggesting that some politicians who lost in the 2023 governorship election were behind them. He accused these politicians of trying to cause trouble in Bayelsa by using the national unrest.

“These people don’t care about our state. They only want to disrupt the peace and progress we’ve worked so hard for,” Governor Diri said. At the sports complex, the walk turned into a fitness session. The Governor and participants did some light exercises and stretches, symbolizing the administration’s focus on healthy living.

Speaking to the crowd, Governor Diri urged all Bayelsa residents to stay alert and not join the protests. He stressed the importance of focusing on positive and legal activities that contribute to the state’s growth. “We should be building our state, not causing instability,” he said.

The Governor’s message was clear: under his leadership, Bayelsa prioritizes peace and steady progress. He encouraged everyone to continue their daily lives, reassuring them that the government is working to address any issues they might have.
