The Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on Governor Alex Otti to substantiate his claim regarding the rehabilitation of 90 roads during his one-year tenure. In a statement signed by Elder Amah Anraham, Acting Publicity Secretary of the Abia State PDP, the party challenged Otti to provide specific details on the roads rehabilitated, including the associated costs of the contracts. They also demanded proof that due process and the provisions of the Abia Public Procurement Act were followed in awarding these contracts.

The statement from the Abia PDP reads, “The attention of the Abia PDP has been drawn to Governor Alex Otti’s assertion of rehabilitating 90 roads within the past year, which we find to be unsubstantiated and misleading to the people of Abia State. We call on Governor Alex Otti to disclose the list of these 90 roads, the financial implications of the contracts, and to demonstrate compliance with due process as stipulated by the Abia Public Procurement Act.”

Furthermore, the party highlighted concerns over transparency in road project costs, referencing the controversial N30 billion re-award of the Port Harcourt road Aba project. They emphasized the need for Otti to emulate transparency practices exemplified by national figures like Mr. Peter Obi, and urged him to facilitate verification of his claims to regain public trust.
