Adamawa State is set to hold elections in July this year to elect chairmen and councillors for its 21 local government councils. The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) announced this significant development on Tuesday, specifying that the elections will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

In a press briefing held in Yola, the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, detailed the commission’s preparations on  the upcoming elector. He informed journalists that notices for the election of chairmen and councillors will be prominently displayed at both the ADSIEC headquarters and local government offices across the state. Additionally, he mentioned that the timetable, schedule of activities, and timelines for the election will be released within the next two weeks.

“The Commission’s mandate to organize, conduct, and supervise elections is in fulfillment of the Constitution following the expiration of the tenure of the former council chairmen and councillors,” the ADSIEC chairman explained. He emphasized the importance of these elections in ensuring that local governance continues seamlessly and that the democratic process is upheld at the grassroots level.

Alhaji Mohammed Umar further elaborated on the steps ADSIEC is taking to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.
