She reported that the collision was caused by excessive speed and wrongful overtaking, which resulted in a rear-end collision between the two vehicles. The tragic incident occurred at approximately 12:40 PM and prompted a swift rescue operation by the FRSC Mosimi Unit Command.

According to Okpe, a total of eight people were involved in the crash. Sadly, four individuals lost their lives, while the remaining four sustained injuries. The injured were promptly taken to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, Ogijo, for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the families of the deceased have taken custody of their loved ones’ bodies.

In the wake of the accident, the Sector Commander of the Ogun Sector Command, Anthony Uga, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He used this unfortunate incident to reiterate the importance of safe driving practices.

Uga emphasized the critical need for motorists to avoid speeding and to pay full attention while driving. He pointed out that knowing when it is safe to overtake is crucial to preventing such tragic accidents.

Moreover, Uga urged drivers to adhere strictly to road markings, especially those that indicate when overtaking is permitted. He reminded all road users that these markings are put in place to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Ignoring these signs not only endangers the lives of the drivers themselves but also those of other road users.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with reckless driving behaviors such as speeding and improper overtaking.

The FRSC continues to advocate for safer driving habits and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of life on the roads. The Sagamu/Ikorodu Road, like many others, demands vigilance and respect for traffic laws to ensure the safety of all who travel on it.

The community in Sagamu is left mourning the sudden and tragic loss of life while praying for the swift recovery of those injured. As the investigation into the accident continues, it is hoped that the lessons learned from this incident will lead to greater awareness and a commitment to safer driving practices among motorists.
