The Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, awarded cash prizes to the winners of the inaugural New WW White Secondary School Football Tournament in Rivers State.
This event was part of the ongoing Niger Delta Youth Cultural Festival.
During the final match, which featured Enitonna Secondary School from Port Harcourt and Nyemoni Grammar School from Abonnema, Dr Ogbuku highlighted the tournament’s significance in uniting the state, promoting peace, and developing football talents, such as former Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo.
Looking to the future, Ogbuku announced plans to expand the tournament to all nine regional states.
He also mentioned that there would be initiatives to help export young talents to national and international markets.
