A reporter from Punch got the information that the event happened on Sunday around 9:40 a.m., right before a filling station in the Sagamu region of the highway.

An eyewitness informed the Sagamu Police Division that the unknown vehicle was speeding from the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State towards the interchange.

According to a source, the two pedestrians were supposedly waiting for a commercial bus by the sidewalk of the highway when the speeding unidentified vehicle showed up.

The witness mentioned that the car struck the two pedestrians and left them unconscious on the sidewalk before they could attempt to avoid the rapidly moving vehicle.

After realizing what occurred, the alleged driver reportedly drove away.

A doctor who was on duty confirmed that James, 22, had died, even though efforts were made to transport the two victims to the hospital promptly after the incident.

The state Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who verified the incident, mentioned that an investigation into the matter had begun.
