TikTok has revealed a $1 million contribution to back creators and nonprofit organizations fostering positive change via its Change Makers Programme.
Among the 50 purpose-oriented creators worldwide, Charity Ekezie, a local content creator, has been chosen to receive a $25,000 direct donation to bolster her advocacy efforts.
The announcement was made by the short video platform in a statement.
Additionally, the platform has chosen other purpose-oriented creators from Africa, such as @theroamingchef from Kenya, @doctor.siya from South Africa, and @pilot_onthegram from South Africa.
Ekezie is recognized for utilizing her platform to challenge negative stereotypes about Africa and to enlighten individuals about the richness of African culture.
TikTok stated through the program its aim to educate, advocate, and inspire communities to foster significant change.
The initiative underscores its dedication to empowering creators who champion positive change and back vital causes on a global scale.
In addition, it was mentioned that Ekezie would collaborate with Paradigm Initiative, an NGO dedicated to bridging the digital divide among underserved young Africans. The organization empowers them with essential digital, life, and business skills while safeguarding their rights.
