An esteemed elder statesman and former Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Razaq Abubakre, has expressed his views on the appointment of Adegboyega Oyetola, a former governor of Osun State, as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

In a statement released in Abuja, Prof. Abubakre described this decision as a perfect match, likening it to “putting a square peg in a square hole.”

Prof. Abubakre emphasized that the choice of Oyetola was unanimously adopted by the Prof. Adewoye Committee, which was responsible for the repositioning of the APC in Osun State.

The decision was made during a meeting held at the Tinubu-Shettima House in Osogbo and received no opposition from any legitimate member of the party.

By this unanimous decision, Prof. Abubakre asserts that Oyetola’s leadership has been validated by all APC stakeholders in Osun State.

He commends the party for recognizing Oyetola’s unwavering commitment to rebuilding the party and highlights his humility, patience, integrity, and generosity as essential qualities that will guide him in leading the party towards a successful future.

Prof. Abubakre also acknowledges the strong support shown by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, which further reinforces Oyetola’s leadership.

In his appeal to other major stakeholders within the APC, including former governors of the state, Prof. Abubakre urges them to embrace the party and work together with its members to ensure unity and strength.

He also calls upon Chief Adebisi Akande, the foundation Chairman of the party, to serve as a chief reconciler between disgruntled stakeholders and President Ahmed Tinubu and Oyetola.

Highlighting the recent defection of Senator Mudashiru Hussein and other prominent figures from the ruling party, PDP, Prof. Abubakre predicts that more individuals will return to the APC, further solidifying its position in the state.

In conclusion, Prof. Abubakre appeals for increased dedication from the local government chairmen of Osun APC, the state executives of the party, and the Egbe Agba Osun (Elders of Osun) led by Chairman Sola Akinwumi.

He emphasizes that now is the time for Osun APC members and stakeholders to work harder than ever before for the success of the party. With the capable leadership of Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola and the indefatigable state Chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Prof. Abubakre expresses his hopes for the party’s victory in all upcoming polls.
