A protester named Emmanuel, an eight-year-old boy, has joined the protest, stating that his father can no longer afford to pay his school fees or the house rent.
In an interview with ThePaan News on August 2, 2024, Emmanuel explained why he decided to participate in the protest on its second day.
He said, “I am joining the protest because I want the federal government to reduce the prices of things,
My dad cannot afford my school fees or the house rent. Also, Nigeria is not the same as before; things that used to cost ₦50, like biscuits, now cost ₦100.”
When asked if he knew the exact amount of her school fees, Emmanuel confirmed that he had been sent out of school due to non-payment.
