Abayomi Arabambi, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), recently expressed the party’s stance on Peter Obi’s potential move to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Arabambi emphasized that the LP is determined to prevent Peter Obi from joining forces with his PDP counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, in anticipation of the 2027 elections.

Arabambi stated, “Politically, we will not allow the crisis to fester for long that we will now allow Mr Peter Obi to join Atiku.” He highlighted the party’s efforts to resolve its internal conflicts through political means to avoid collaboration with the PDP.
Additionally, Arabambi addressed the recent legal challenges faced by the party. He mentioned the ruling by Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court, which restrained certain individuals from acting as national officers of the LP. However, in March 2024, the Court of Appeal in Abuja overturned this judgment, allowing Julius Abure and two others to resume their roles as national officers.
Arabambi asserted that actions taken by Abure during the period between March 2023 and March 2024 are considered invalid following the Court of Appeal’s decision. He emphasized that the recent verdict renders those actions null and void.
